Who this is for — Shopify operators and agency tech
Built for a Shopify operator or agency tech who owns the pixel after a theme deploy, consent app, or GTM publish — not a media-buyer attribution tour. PixelProof is a storefront tracking detector from Digital Empire Holdings LLC (30 N Gould St Ste N, Sheridan WY 82801), built by Andy Gaber. We fetch the public HTML of a URL you paste and report whether Meta Pixel, GA4, GTM, and a few other loaders are still visible. Detect, then optionally keep watching. We are not listed on the Shopify App Store, not Built for Shopify, and not a Meta or Shopify partner program.
Support is support@pixeluptime.com. There is no in-app chat team and no fabricated install-count badge.
FAQ — pixel broken / not firing
Honest answers for the questions operators actually type. No fake guarantees. Full index: /meta-monitor/faq.
What does the free storefront scan actually check?
The free scan fetches the public HTML of the URL you paste (usually the homepage) and looks for known loader signatures: Meta Pixel (fbq / fbevents.js / noscript fallback), GA4 measurement tags, GTM container IDs, plus a few other storefront-visible pixels (TikTok, Snap, Pinterest, common affiliate scripts) and Shopify Web Pixels / Customer Events wiring markers. When it can, it captures the IDs it saw so you can tell the scan ran against your store, not a template. It is a presence check on that page — not a walk through checkout, and not proof that Purchase events fire.
What does the free scan not check?
It does not log into Shopify admin, Meta Ads Manager, or GA4. It does not place a test order, open checkout, Thank You, or Order Status pages, or read Additional Scripts / checkout.liquid. It cannot see pixels that only render after client-side hydration (common on Hydrogen / headless themes). It does not install code, edit your theme, or certify GDPR/CCPA consent. Every Shopify storefront scan includes an explicit “checkout / Additional Scripts — not observable” finding so that gap is labeled, not hidden.
Ads Manager says my Meta pixel is not firing. Will this free scan fail?
Not necessarily — and a green scan does not prove Ads Manager is wrong. Meta Events Manager last-fired timestamps and Test Events live behind your ad account. This page fetches public storefront HTML and looks for loader signatures (fbq / fbevents.js / noscript). A pixel can be present in that HTML and still not fire events (consent banner, ad-blocker, wrong event name, server CAPI only). We do not log into Ads Manager and we do not guarantee the two surfaces will agree.
What does “pixel broken” mean on a Shopify store after the checkout upgrade?
Usually one of two things: a storefront loader missing or duplicated after a theme, consent, GTM, or campaign change; or checkout / Thank You / Order Status pixels that this free scan cannot see. Shopify retired Additional Scripts and legacy checkout.liquid tracking for non-Plus stores on August 26, 2026. A “pixel broken” label here is a storefront presence finding — not a legal conclusion, not proof Purchase died, and not a dollar amount of lost ads.
Can the free scan prove Purchase or ViewContent is firing?
No. Seeing fbq, gtag, or a GTM container in first-page HTML is not proof that Purchase, AddToCart, or ViewContent fired. Checkout, Thank You, and Order Status pages are unobservable from this fetch. Confirm events inside your own admin session — Meta Test Events, a real test order, or the optional Chrome extension. We will not invent checkout proof.
Why would fbq or GA4 be missing from homepage HTML but still work later?
Hydrogen, headless, and some OS 2.0 themes inject pixels after client-side hydration or after a consent click. A server HTML fetch honestly reports what that first document contained. If Shopify is detected and no storefront markers appear, the scan adds a headless / client-hydrated warning instead of pretending the pixel is healthy. That is a scan limit, not a guaranteed break.
If the score looks healthy, is my tracking OK?
It means the loaders we know how to see looked present on that public page at scan time. It is not a certification, not GDPR/CCPA clearance, and not a promise that ads will optimize. Theme deploys and tag publishes still break pixels without a storefront error. Monitor-Only at $29/mo re-runs this same storefront presence check on a recurring schedule and emails when findings change. We do not guarantee recovered ad spend.
What is the difference between a free scan and paid Monitor?
A free scan is one-shot: one public page, one result, then you leave. Paid Monitor re-runs that same storefront presence scan on a recurring schedule and emails you when findings change after a theme, consent, campaign, or loader change. Monitor does not suddenly gain checkout X-ray vision — it watches the same public HTML surface over time. That is the product: detect and keep watching, not a one-time “we fixed it for you” engagement.
Keep watching with Monitor-Only — $29/mo
Monitor-Only is $29/mo for 1 store: weekly Meta + Shopify storefront monitor and email break alerts. No fix snippets. No PDF. Same public HTML presence scan as this page, on a recurring schedule. 7-day trial. Not a hard lock on the free scan. Not checkout X-ray. Not a fix pack. Not a guaranteed ROAS recovery.
PixelProof is a compliance monitoring service, not a certification or legal advice service. Monitoring cannot guarantee 100% detection of every pixel breakage or Meta API deprecation. Merchants remain responsible for their own tracking compliance.
